Erin Pearsall, the mother of San Francisco 49ers rookie Ricky Pearsall, is crediting divine intervention for her son’s survival after he was shot in the chest during a robbery attempt in San Francisco on Saturday.

According to the team, 23-year-old Pearsall is in stable condition after sustaining a bullet wound to his chest. The team has asked for respect for Pearsall’s privacy during this time and has expressed their thoughts and prayers for the player and his family.

In a Facebook post, Erin Pearsall shared an update on her son’s condition, expressing her gratitude to God for protecting him. “He was shot in the chest, and it exited out his back,” she wrote. “Thanks be to God, it missed his vital organs. He is in good spirits right now.”

Erin Pearsall’s post was a heartfelt expression of her relief and gratitude, urging her friends to appreciate the preciousness of life. “Please love each other,” she wrote. “My son was spared today by the grace of God. Please pray for my baby.”

The incident occurred when a 17-year-old attempted to rob Pearsall, but accidentally shot himself in the arm during the struggle. The attacker was taken into custody by police when they arrived on the scene.

The San Francisco Police Department has condemned the shooting, with Director of Strategic Communications Evan Sernoffsky describing it as “tragic” and “unacceptable.”
