Republican Garvey Criticizes Schiff Over Endorsing Former Rival

Rep. Adam Schiff from California gained another endorsement from former primary rival Rep. Barbara Lee, which was criticized by his Republican opponent for the Senate seat, Steve Garvey.

Schiff and Garvey are set to compete for the late Sen. Dianne Feinstein’s seat, with Garvey claiming that Schiff would continue Lee’s agenda, which includes a ceasefire with Hamas, high crime rates, a $50 minimum wage, and a failed track record with the Latino community.

However, some of Garvey’s claims are not accurate. Schiff has not called for a $50 minimum wage and has shown support for Israel by advocating for a temporary ceasefire in the region. Additionally, Schiff has advocated for criminal justice reform and public safety measures, such as an assault weapons ban and universal background checks.

Schiff has also received endorsements from Latino lawmakers, who praise his support for workers’ rights and healthcare access for Latino families in California.

Despite Garvey’s attacks, Schiff welcomed Lee’s endorsement and expressed gratitude for her support. Lee, in turn, emphasized the importance of electing representatives like Schiff who will defend democracy against autocrats seeking to divide the country.

Overall, the race for the Senate seat in California continues to heat up as candidates clash over policies and endorsements.
