Removal of Mike Johnson May Be Imminent, But Not Immediate

Greene had filed a motion to vacate House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) after months of disagreements, including Johnson’s support for a $95 billion foreign aid package. Despite Trump acknowledging Johnson as a good man, Greene and Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) led a vote to remove him from the speakership due to alleged betrayals, including passing various controversial bills. The vote resulted in a 359-43 outcome, with some Republicans standing against the motion to table Greene’s motion to vacate. Trump urged Republicans to prioritize unity and promised that they would soon achieve victory.
