Removal of Mike Johnson May Be Imminent, But Not Immediate

Former President Donald Trump issued a statement praising Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) for her spirit and fight but indicated that now is not the time to file a motion to vacate the Speaker of the House position. Trump expressed his support for Greene on Truth Social, stating that Republicans must focus on fighting the Radical Left Democrats before considering such a motion. Greene had filed a motion to vacate House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) after months of disagreements, including Johnson’s support for a $95 billion foreign aid package. Despite Trump acknowledging Johnson as a good man, Greene and Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) led a vote to remove him from the speakership due to alleged betrayals, including passing various controversial bills. The vote resulted in a 359-43 outcome, with some Republicans standing against the motion to table Greene’s motion to vacate. Trump urged Republicans to prioritize unity and promised that they would soon achieve victory.
