Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) outlined a set of criteria that former President Donald Trump must fulfill before he actively endorses and supports the presumptive GOP nominee.
“When we have agreed, I’ve been very supportive. When we have disagreed, I’ve also disagreed with him,” Paul mentioned during an interview with Spectrum News.
Paul indicated that before he can endorse Trump, the former president needs to be more vocal on issues that the Kentucky senator considers crucial.
“I think that it’s important that if he wants to get my vote and my support, wants me to be more active in this, that he’s gonna have to be more vocal on things like the lockdowns that I opposed, like the civil liberties abuses that I opposed, like the debt, which frankly has been bad under Republicans and Democrats,” Paul stated.
“So, I’m looking for a little bit more before I make a final decision.”
Despite these conditions, Paul seemed to express his support for Trump in the 2024 presidential election.
“I’m supportive of Donald Trump,” he said. “But whether or not I take an active role, endorse, go out and campaign for him is something that’s yet to be determined.”
