Rachel Maddow Blasts Trump’s Selection of ‘Radical’ J.D. Vance

MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow voiced her opinion on Monday during coverage of the Republican National Convention, declaring that Ohio Senator J.D. Vance, Donald Trump’s newly announced running mate, is a “radical.” Maddow pointed out that Vance’s selection is a significant choice for the Republican Party’s future, potentially marking a significant shift in its identity.

Maddow criticized Trump’s decision to announce Vance as his running mate, suggesting that it could ultimately lead to the country becoming divided once again. Trump’s decision to focus his speech on “Bringing the country together” seems incongruous with the choice of a running mate who is “radical in ideological space,” as Maddow puts it.

According to Maddow, Vance’s extreme views are multifaceted. He has publicly supported a national abortion ban without any exceptions, including for cases of rape, incest, or physical abuse. Maddow also mentioned that Vance has stated his belief that women who are physically abused by their husbands should be expected to remain in the marriage.

The MSNBC host emphasized that Vance’s views align with those of Trump, making him an integral part of the Trump administration. Vance’s selection will likely lead to a radical change in the face of the Republican Party for years to come, Maddow warned.
