President Joe Biden expressed his pride in Hunter Biden, “the man he is today,” as Hunter faces trial for gun violations.
Joe Biden had previously called Hunter the smartest person he knows amid allegations of the Biden family earning millions during Joe Biden’s vice presidency.
“I am the President, but I am also a Dad. Jill and I love our son, and we are so proud of the man he is today,” Joe Biden said in a statement. “Hunter’s resilience in the face of adversity and the strength he has brought to his recovery are inspiring to us. A lot of families have loved ones who have overcome addiction and know what we mean.”
Hunter’s gun trial is expected to last about two weeks. Jury selection began Monday with Dr. Jill Biden and Hunter’s wife, Melissa Cohen Biden, in attendance.

In 2023, Hunter declined to accept a plea deal from prosecutors after negotiations broke down under judicial scrutiny of a “diversion agreement.”
