Protests against Boston’s Housing Giveaway to Immigrants by Americans

Hundreds of Americans gathered outside the Massachusetts State House in Boston to protest Democrats for allocating $420 million to house migrants instead of prioritizing homeless veterans. The budget, signed by Gov. Maura Healey, will bolster the state’s emergency shelter system, allowing migrants to stay for up to 90 days with an option to extend their stay for another 90 days. In response, protesters voiced their discontent, arguing that the focus on supporting migrants was encouraging more illegal immigrants to come to Massachusetts.

Furthermore, Democrats rejected an amendment that would have given homeless veterans priority for housing over migrants, sparking additional outrage among demonstrators. This decision was seen as a disregard for the needs of veterans and a misplaced allocation of resources. Similar controversies have arisen in the past, including the conversion of Boston’s Old Chelsea Soldier’s Home to house migrants, angering residents and highlighting the administration’s questionable priorities.

Criticism has also been directed at the state for housing migrants at Logan International Airport, with reports indicating a projected spending of one billion dollars to feed migrants by 2025. These actions have fueled frustration and dissent among residents, who feel that resources are being mismanaged and the needs of veterans and American citizens are being neglected.
