A Euclid police officer, identified as 23-year-old Jacob Derbin, was tragically killed in the line of duty in Euclid, Ohio. Officer Derbin, a military veteran serving on the force for less than two years, was ambushed and fatally shot while investigating a disturbance at a home on East 211th Street.

Described as an “incredible” person by Euclid Police Chief Scott Meyer, Officer Derbin’s untimely death has left the department devastated. A manhunt is currently underway for the suspect, Deshawn Anthony Vaughn, who is considered armed and dangerous.

Multiple law enforcement agencies are assisting in locating the suspect, and anyone with information is urged to contact the Euclid Police Detective Bureau or the U.S. Marshal’s Service. The community is asked to keep Officer Derbin’s family, loved ones, and the police department in their thoughts and prayers.

Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost expressed anger and sorrow over the loss, promising that justice will be served for Officer Derbin. The Attorney General’s Bureau of Criminal Investigation is actively involved in investigating the incident.
