More than 60 protesters were arrested on the University of Massachusetts, Amherst campus for returning to a previously cleared encampment and protesting the Israeli military’s actions at Rafah Crossing. The protesters demanded divestment from weapons manufacturers, specifically mentioning Raytheon. Despite their barricade around the encampment on the south lawn, campus police were deployed to dismantle it. UMass Chancellor Javier Reyes met with protest leaders earlier and assured them that no criminal charges would be brought against the arrested protesters. Videos of the confrontation between police and protesters spread on social media, with claims from the Students for Justice for Palestine group that over 130 people were arrested.
