Former President Donald Trump’s recent rhetoric has drawn criticism from House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who described it as “sick” and “sad” in an interview on CNN’s “Anderson Cooper 360” on Monday.
Cooper asked Pelosi about Trump’s comments regarding the January 6th Capitol riot, where he referred to those who were arrested and charged as “hostages,” “political prisoners,” and “warriors.” Pelosi was asked if she believed Trump would pardon the defendants if re-elected, and whether she thought his use of those terms was appropriate.
Pelosi responded, “I think it’s very sick. We always have to prove through the night that our flag is still there, and we have to prove through all this difficulty of all the misrepresentations that he is putting forth. It’s really sad that people even fall for that.”
