Over 20 Illegal Immigrants Arrive at California Marina and Disappear into the Surrounding Area

In April, more than 20 suspected illegal immigrants arrived at a marina in upscale southern California and then proceeded to jump fences and escape into the surrounding neighborhood, as shown in a shocking video captured at the Balboa Peninsula in Newport Beach. Footage shared by the OC Liberator account revealed the incident, which took place on April 20, not on the reported Thursday. The video depicted nearly two dozen people disembarking from a white boat, running up the dock, and crossing barriers to leave the pier. Most of the individuals were men, with a few women seen as well. The group quickly boarded a black SUV and drove away. Newport Beach Mayor Will O’Neill expressed concern over the incident and reached out to the O.C. Sheriff’s Department for ways to improve security measures. Sheriff Barnes highlighted the increase in maritime smuggling, attributing it to restrictions on communication with federal partners due to laws like SB 54, which limits law enforcement’s ability to arrest illegal migrants and collaborate with federal immigration authorities. The mayor emphasized the severity of the nation’s border crisis and called for better enforcement of laws to address the situation. This event occurred shortly after another incident where migrants landed on a beach in Carlsbad, portraying a disturbing pattern of illegal entry into the state.
