Obama’s Silence Speaks Volumes: Democratic Rift Over Harris Endorsement

0:00

The Democrat Party has faced accusations of hypocrisy after attempting to dismiss millions of voters who supported President Joe Biden’s nomination for a second term. According to tech billionaire David Sacks, the party’s presumptive nominee was “deposed in a coup” at the direction of former President Barack Obama, who has not yet endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris to replace Biden.

In a statement, Obama wrote that the party will “be navigating uncharted waters in the days ahead.” However, critics argue that Obama’s response is lukewarm, as he has not immediately endorsed Harris as the new nominee. Instead, the Democrat Party’s biggest players, including several governors, have coalesced around Harris, while Obama and his key allies remain absent from the endorsement process.

Key Democrat lawmakers who called for Biden to quit the race have failed to address whether they believe he should also step down from the presidency. When asked if they thought Biden’s cognitive decline posed an immediate threat to national security, nearly all of them failed to answer the question or shifted the focus to his previous comments denying he should resign.

Meanwhile, the nation is left wondering about President Biden’s current mental state. After announcing his decision to withdraw from the race, he has been largely absent from public life, and his chief-of-staff reportedly broke the news of his campaign cancellation to cabinet members instead of informing them personally.

The absence of any upcoming events or public statements has raised questions about Biden’s ability to make informed decisions, and whether his cabinet officials are concerned about his incapacitation.

The 25th Amendment has been invoked in the past to remove a president from office if they are deemed unfit to serve. Sacks has questioned whether the Democrats believe Biden is too sick to run for another four years, yet too well to sign away his presidency.
