A recent Cygnal poll reveals that former President Donald Trump is ahead of President Joe Biden in Pennsylvania, a crucial swing state, in both head-to-head matchups and among independents.

The survey, conducted from June 27-28, 2024, among 800 likely voters, found Trump leading among swing voters with 37 percent to Biden’s 30 percent. Trump also enjoyed a 15-point advantage among Pennsylvania independents.

Notably, the survey was conducted both before and after last Thursday’s presidential debate. It carries a margin of error of +/- 3.45 percent.

The poll also delved into opinions on the debate, with 22 percent of respondents expressing negative sentiments about Biden’s performance, compared to 13 percent who felt the same about Trump. An equal 18 percent found both candidates’ performances wanting.

The survey’s findings coincided with heightened concerns among Democrats in the aftermath of the debate, but the Biden campaign and his family have rallied behind him. A campaign spokesperson, Seth Schuster, emphasized that Biden will not withdraw from the race, and the President’s family has reportedly urged him to continue his candidacy at Camp David.
