Murder Charges Filed Against Utah Woman in Suicide Pact Death

A 21-year-old woman from Utah has been arrested for the murder of her friend in a possible suicide pact that investigators believe the pair had been planning for weeks. Heavenly Faith Garfield, from Saratoga Springs, was taken into custody after police received a report of a 21-year-old female who was found dead from a gunshot wound in a house. Garfield’s father called 911 and reported that the victim had been shot earlier that day.

Authorities discovered Garfield, the deceased friend (whose name has not been released), and a 9mm bullet near the victim’s body. It was revealed that the deceased friend had allegedly made a suicide pact with Garfield and had expressed intentions of taking their lives together. Text messages from the victim to another friend indicated her fear of committing suicide alone and her plan to do so with Garfield.

Further investigation revealed that family members of both Garfield and the victim were aware of the pact and discussions about it had been ongoing for weeks. Garfield is currently held in jail without bail and is facing charges of murder and discharge of a firearm.
