In a tragic incident, five individuals were shot, with two fatalities, on Thursday morning in Chicago’s South Side. The shooting occurred at a residence on South Woodlawn Avenue around 6:15 a.m., prompting police to respond to multiple reports of people shot.

Upon arrival, officers discovered five gunshot victims and administered first aid. A 42-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene, while a 24-year-old woman was taken to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

The victims have been identified as Capri Edwards, a 42-year-old woman, and her aunt, Nakeeshia Strong, a 24-year-old woman. Edwards was the mother of two of the three children who were also shot and are in critical condition at the hospital. The 8-year-old child is the son of Strong.

Police believe the shooting stemmed from a personal dispute and that multiple individuals got out of two vehicles that drove up to the home and opened fire. The investigation is ongoing, with authorities working to piece together the events leading up to the shooting.
