A mother and her three-year-old son were almost abducted in the parking lot of a Madison church recently. The incident occurred outside Abundant Life Living Word Church on Cheyenne Boulevard. The woman was getting her son out of her car when 30-year-old Javaunn Brown approached her. Instead of answering her question about attending church, Brown grabbed her hand and asked about Cumberland View Towers. He then demanded her car keys and tried to take her son from the backseat. When church members intervened, Brown threatened to blow up the church and claimed to work for the president before fleeing. Police later found him trying to break into a church van and eventually arrested him in an unoccupied home. Brown faces charges of attempted kidnapping, robbery, and evading arrest, with a bond set at $71,500.
