Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Officer Joshua Eyer, who was tragically shot and killed while trying to serve a warrant on a wanted suspect, was honored during a memorial service attended by hundreds of law enforcement officers from across North Carolina. During the emotional service, Eyer’s wife paid tribute to her late husband, who was described as a hero for his dedication to his work and commitment to serving the community.

Eyer, who was named Officer of the Month in April for his outstanding policing efforts, made a significant impact in addressing quality of life concerns in the areas he patrolled. In the weeks leading up to receiving this award, Eyer and his colleague made several arrests related to felony cases, showcasing their dedication to combating crime in the community.

In addition to his service as a police officer, Eyer also served with the National Guard for 12 years, completing two deployments in support of military operations. His life and service will be honored by CMPD at a memorial service at First Baptist Church in uptown Charlotte.

You can watch the memorial service on the air or live-streamed at QCnews.com. Our thoughts and prayers are with Officer Eyer’s family, friends, and colleagues during this difficult time.
