McCarthy: Kamala Harris Was Not Well-Liked by Colleagues in the Senate

Former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy has shed light on Vice President Kamala Harris’s reputation among her former colleagues in the Senate, revealing that she was not well-liked and had difficulty working with others. In an interview with Fox News Host Jesse Watters, McCarthy shared that Democratic House members had a strained relationship with Harris during her time as a senator from California.

According to McCarthy, Harris’s colleagues found her to be uncooperative and unwilling to work with them on key issues. He also suggested that the White House had limited interest in her opinions and perspectives, citing an instance where she was only invited to the Truman balcony on the 4th of July when President Joe Biden was about to cancel.

McCarthy attributed Harris’s recent surge in popularity to President Biden’s unpopularity, warning that her “honeymoon phase” would soon come to an end as voters became more familiar with her policies and track record. He drew parallels with the 1988 presidential election, where Democratic nominee Mike Dukakis’s popularity plummeted after his soft-on-crime policies were exposed.

As California attorney general, Harris had a reputation for being a progressive and soft-on-crime official, advocating for the abolition of ICE, defunding the police, and keeping innocent people in prison. Judge Joe Brown, a former reality TV courtroom show star, described Harris as a “lazy” lawyer who lacked professional confidence.

Staffers who worked with Harris during her tenure as attorney general reportedly described her as a “bully” and characterized her office as a “soul-destroying” workplace. A CNN-SRSS national poll found that only 39 percent of Americans viewed Harris as an ideal candidate, while an Economist/YouGov national survey found that 42 percent of respondents were indifferent to her role as vice president.
