Lord of the Rings actor Bernard Hill passes away at age 79

Actor Bernard Hill, famous for portraying King Theoden in the beloved “The Lord of the Rings” trilogy, passed away at the age of 79. His death was confirmed by his agent, Lou Coulson, early Sunday morning. Alongside his iconic role in “The Lord of the Rings,” Hill was also recognized for his performance as Captain Edward Smith in the 1997 film “Titanic.”

Before making his mark in these blockbuster movies, Hill gained recognition for his portrayal of Yosser Hughes in the TV series “Boys from the Blackstuff” on BBC. Despite being scheduled to attend Comic Con Liverpool in the UK over the weekend, Hill had to back out at the last minute.

Comic Con Liverpool expressed their sorrow over Hill’s passing, calling it a great loss and extending their condolences to his family during this difficult time. Hill’s legacy extends beyond his notable roles, as evidenced by his upcoming appearance in season two of “The Responder,” set to debut on Sunday night.
