Long Island Woman Charged with Assault After Allegedly Striking Victim with Car

A violent confrontation in a North Bellport parking lot turned deadly Saturday morning when a Long Island woman allegedly struck a 63-year-old woman with her car, leaving the victim with serious injuries.

According to police, the incident unfolded at approximately 3:40 a.m. in the parking lot of a Chinese restaurant located at 1733 Montauk Highway. Two women became embroiled in a heated argument, ultimately escalating into a physical altercation.

In a shocking turn of events, 51-year-old Philomena Mistretta allegedly intentionally struck the victim with her 2004 Toyota Sienna, leaving the woman hospitalized with serious injuries. The extent of the victim’s injuries is still unclear, but authorities confirm she was transported to Long Island Community Hospital for emergency treatment.

As a result of her actions, Mistretta was taken into custody and charged with first-degree assault. She will be held overnight pending her arraignment, scheduled for Sunday, police announced.
