Actor John Leguizamo is urging Latinos to shift their blame away from President Joe Biden for the economy and instead focus on COVID and former President Donald Trump. In a recent interview with Salon, Leguizamo commented on Latino voters blaming Biden for the economy, citing COVID and Trump’s handling of the pandemic as the real culprits. He acknowledged that inflation is causing financial strain for many, but insisted that the economy itself is doing well.
However, Leguizamo’s perspective does not align with current economic realities. Inflation was at 1.4 percent when Biden took office and has since risen to nine percent. In addition, real wages have not kept up with the soaring cost of goods and services, leading to widespread dissatisfaction among voters regarding the state of the economy.
During the interview, Leguizamo also criticized the Democrats for neglecting Latinos and failing to invest in outreach efforts in 2020. He argued that their oversight led to missed opportunities in key states like Arizona and Texas.
It is clear that Leguizamo believes Latinos should reevaluate their views on the economy and political landscape, focusing on the broader context of COVID and previous administrations rather than solely placing blame on President Biden.
