Kia Recalls 463,000 Telluride SUVs Over Fire Risk

0:00

Kia America is recalling 462,869 of its Telluride SUV vehicles due to concerns over a potential fire safety hazard.

The potential fire hazard is linked to a malfunctioning power seat slide knob, which can cause the front power seat motor to overheat. This issue could potentially affect Kia’s 2020-2024 Telluride models.

As a precaution, Kia advises owners of these vehicles to park outdoors and away from other vehicles and buildings for the time being.

To address the issue, Kia is offering to install a bracket on the power seat switch back covers and replace the seat slide knobs at no cost to owners.

Owners of these models will receive a notification about this recall in the mail starting July 30. They can also contact Kia’s customer service at 800-333-4542, referencing recall number SC316.

Additionally, owners can use an online tool from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration to check if their vehicle has been recalled.
