Kevin O’Leary: Harris’s Nomination Could Be a Repeat of Clinton’s 2016 Mistake

Kevin O’Leary, a Shark Tank investor and international businessman, has weighed in on the 2024 presidential election, predicting that a potential loss by Vice President Kamala Harris could have far-reaching consequences for the Democratic Party.

O’Leary drew parallels between Harris’s nomination and that of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in 2016, suggesting that both candidates were “anointed” by the party without a thorough vetting process. He argued that this approach could lead to a repeat of the 2016 outcome, where Clinton ultimately lost to Donald Trump.

“I would never have allowed this to happen in a business deal,” O’Leary said on Fox News’s Fox and Friends Saturday. “I always tell my managers to bring me multiple options, not just one. It’s astonishing that the Democratic Party didn’t do the same here, especially considering Governor Newsom’s comments about other potential candidates.”

When asked about Harris’s chances of winning, O’Leary gave her a 50-50 shot. He emphasized that the key to success lies in the swing states, where voters prioritize policy above all else. “These voters are the ones who will decide the election,” he said. “Candidates would be wise to focus on their concerns.”

O’Leary previously argued that Harris needs to distance herself from President Joe Biden and his economic policies, which he labeled “radioactive waste” for voters. He also stressed the importance of Harris articulating her own policies clearly and confidently, without relying on a teleprompter.

Recent polling data shows Trump leading Harris by a narrow margin, with 49% of likely voters supporting the former president and 46% backing Harris. Trump’s lead has narrowed slightly from the previous week, when he was ahead by 4%.
