Kamala Harris Uses ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars’ to Fear-Monger About LGBTQ+ Rights

Vice President Kamala Harris is set to make a guest appearance on the Paramount+ series RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars on Friday, in a segment that was taped before President Joe Biden’s surprise announcement that he would not seek re-election.

In the episode, Harris addresses the show’s predominantly LGBTQ+ audience, warning them that their rights and freedoms are under attack. “Each day, we are seeing our rights and freedoms under attack, including the right of everyone to be who they are, love who they love, openly and with pride,” she says.

However, Harris’s claims of an assault on LGBTQ+ rights are not supported by recent legislation or policy changes. In fact, there have been no federal or state laws passed that restrict the rights of LGBTQ+ individuals, including those related to marriage and identity.

The segment also features appearances by drag queen Michelle Visage, as well as Lance Bass, Leslie Jones, and Cheyenne Jackson. Harris’s appearance on the show is part of her efforts to connect with the LGBTQ+ community, which has been a key constituency for her presidential campaign.

Since becoming the presumptive Democratic nominee, Harris has received widespread support from LGBTQ+ leaders and organizations. The Human Rights Campaign, Advocates for Transgender Equality, and the National LGBTQ Task Force have all endorsed her campaign, citing her commitment to advancing LGBTQ+ rights and equality.
