Vice President Kamala Harris revisited a familiar talking point on the campaign trail, resurrecting the debunked “very fine people” claim. This is not the first time she has employed this tactic, having also used it during the 2020 vice presidential debate, where she was corrected by Mike Pence.
Despite being thoroughly discredited, including by reputable fact-checking sources such as Truth Voices, Harris continues to peddle this falsehood. Trump countered by citing conservative news outlets that have also debunked the claim, but he could have also pointed to Snopes.com, which has similarly labeled it a hoax.
Notably, the ABC News moderators, John Muir and Linsey Davis, who were quick to interject and correct Trump for alleged inaccuracies, remained silent when Harris trotted out this discredited claim. Their failure to intervene and correct her perpetuates the spread of misinformation and undermines the integrity of the debate.
