Justice Department Appoints Pro-Transgender Official to National Advisory Board

The Biden administration’s Justice Department has made another move to promote its “woke” agenda, this time by appointing a left-leaning state prison official to a key advisory board. Cheryl Strange, the outgoing Secretary of the Washington state Department of Corrections, has been named to the National Institute of Corrections (NIC) advisory board, sparking concerns among conservative critics.

Strange, who was appointed by Democratic Governor Jay Inslee in 2021, has been instrumental in implementing “gender-affirming care” for inmates in Washington state who identify as transgender. Her appointment to the NIC advisory board, which aims to shape correctional policies and practices nationwide, has raised eyebrows among those who see it as a further example of the Justice Department’s push for progressive ideology.

In a statement, Strange expressed her gratitude for the appointment, saying it was a “great honor” at the end of her career. She praised Washington state’s “nation-leading reforms” that have created a more humane corrections system, and expressed her enthusiasm for working with national leaders to implement similar approaches across the country.

The NIC advisory board plays a significant role in shaping correctional policies and practices, and Strange’s appointment has been welcomed by some as a testament to her commitment to public service and reform. Federal Bureau of Prisons Director Colette Peters praised Strange’s “progressive leadership” and hailed her as a visionary who will bring valuable experience to the advisory board.

Strange’s appointment is the latest move by the Justice Department to promote its progressive agenda, following the targeting of a Texas doctor who exposed a child sex change program at a hospital. Dr. Eithan Haim faced felony charges for violating HIPAA after coming forward to reveal the program, which offered experimental and irreversible transgender services to children as young as 11.
