Nurali Emomali of Tajikistan defeated Israeli judoka Baruch Shmailov in their match, but in a display of poor sportsmanship, he refused to shake Shmailov’s hand after the victory. This was not the first instance of such behavior, as Shmailov’s previous opponent, Abderrahmane Boushita of Morocco, had also declined to shake hands with him after their match.
Emomali’s actions sparked outrage on social media, with some users claiming that he shouted “Allahu Akhbar” after his victory.
However, his triumph was short-lived, as he went on to face Japan’s Hifumi Abe in the next round.
