During a military operation on Tuesday morning, Israel’s 401st Armored Brigade took control of the Gazan side of Rafah Crossing in the ongoing conflict with Hamas. The operation occurred as negotiations for a potential ceasefire were underway on Monday. The Israel Defense Forces confirmed that 20 people were killed in the battle and discovered critical tunnel shafts. An automobile filled with explosives attempted to collide with an IDF tank but was destroyed by the Israeli military. No injuries or casualties were reported at the time. Israel’s tanks entered Rafah after issuing evacuation orders for around 100,000 Gazans, advising them to seek refuge in a safe zone near Khan Younis. Despite Hamas agreeing to a ceasefire proposal, Israel rejected it and announced plans to resume discussions in Egypt on Tuesday.
