Independent Candidate West Says Harris Team Tried to Bribe Him to Exit 2024 Election

In a shocking revelation, independent presidential candidate Cornel West claimed that the Harris campaign attempted to persuade him to drop out of the 2024 election by offering him a lucrative deal. During an interview on the Status Coup News podcast, West alleged that Harris’s team offered him a high-ranking position in her administration and a promise to settle his campaign debts in exchange for his withdrawal from the race.

West’s candidacy has been met with resistance from the Democratic Party, as polls suggest that his presence on the ballot in swing states could potentially siphon votes away from Harris and inadvertently benefit former President Donald Trump. When approached by Harris campaign staffers, West said he was told to “get on the bandwagon” and support Harris, citing the historic significance of her candidacy.

However, West claimed that he rebuffed their overtures, stating that he couldn’t be swayed by offers of resources or positions. “I told them, ‘You’re talking to the wrong brother,'” he recalled. “That’s not what I’m all about.”

When pressed by host Jordan Chariton about the specifics of the offer, West hinted that the Harris campaign had discussed potential cabinet or lower-level positions, but he declined to elaborate.

West’s candidacy has gained traction in several key states, including Wisconsin, Georgia, and Pennsylvania, where he has qualified for the ballot. A recent ruling by a Michigan judge has also ensured his inclusion on the state’s presidential ballot.

This is not the first time the Democratic Party has been accused of attempting to influence the outcome of an election. A similar incident occurred during the Obama Administration, when Democrats reportedly pressured Rep. Joe Sestak (D-PA) to drop out of a Senate race in favor of then-Sen. Arlen Specter (PA).
