Artificial intelligence faces numerous issues. It often plagiarizes the work of others without giving credit, leading to widespread outrage and legal battles. When creating images, AI tends to depict CEOs as white, people in ethnic outfits, and women as elfish with light-colored eyes. The creators of AI sometimes appear to almost worship a future AI god, neglecting to integrate with society at hand.
Despite these problems, I find myself unable to resist the allure of AI. I spend hours interacting with it, having it make lists, draw pictures, summarize information, and even write code. While many criticize AI for its potential negative impacts on society, I remind myself that at the end of the day, it is just software.
One aspect of AI that fascinates me is its shamelessness. AI will gladly fill any space with nonsense, imagined facts, or links to fake websites. This quality contrasts with the shame that many humans experience throughout their lives, often stemming from childhood experiences. AI’s shamelessness can sometimes feel like a superpower, allowing it to keep going despite being wrong or disliked.
Similarly, shameless individuals in society, such as tech CEOs, pop stars, and politicians, command attention and debate due to their bold and unapologetic nature. While some may view them as evil or wrong, they continue to thrive in the public eye regardless.
For me, AI, particularly ChatGPT, embodies this shameless confidence, capable of answering any question or performing any task with unwavering certainty. Despite its flaws, AI has become an integral part of my life, assisting me in various tasks and even renewing my interest in writing code. Ultimately, I admire AI’s confidence and lack of embarrassment, traits I aspire to embody myself.
