Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) stated on NBC’s “Meet the Press” that he supports the mass deportation of illegal immigrants due to the large numbers involved.
Host Kristen Welker asked Rubio about Donald Trump’s willingness to establish migrant detention camps and deport over 11 million undocumented immigrants if reelected, labeling it the largest deportation plan in American history. Rubio responded, “Eleven million was the number ten years ago. We’re now talking about upwards of 25 to 30 million.”
He elaborated, “Yes, I support it. We cannot absorb 25 to 30 million people who entered this country illegally. What country would tolerate that? We don’t even know who most of these people are. They’re suggesting vetting them, but vet what? They come from nations without documentation systems. Unfortunately, something dramatic needs to be done to remove these illegal entrants, especially those we know nothing about. The number 15 years ago was 10 million to 11 million. Today, it’s 25 to 30 million, possibly more.”
Rubio concluded, “This is not about immigration. What we are witnessing is mass migration, an invasion of the country that requires a dramatic response.”
