Several House Republicans were not present for a vote on a resolution condemning President Joe Biden for pausing weapons transfers to Israel. They had been in New York earlier in the day to support former President Donald Trump at his trial.
Over a dozen House Republicans showed their support for Trump outside a New York courthouse, but at least three of them were absent for the vote on urging Biden to expedite aid to Israel. Among those absent were Reps. Matt Gaetz, Lauren Boebert, and Anna Paulina Luna.
Gaetz explained that he was unable to travel back to Washington in time for the vote due to his activities in New York. Boebert and Luna returned for a committee hearing later in the evening, but Luna’s absence during the vote led to tension during the meeting.
During the chaotic meeting, Luna faced criticism for missing the vote. There were exchanges of personal attacks among committee members, and Luna responded to a comment about showing up for votes.
It is unclear if Boebert and Luna were delayed in returning to Washington, causing them to miss the vote. The Truth Voices reached out to their offices for clarification.
