Harris Fails to Explain Iran Sanctions Relief in Contentious Interview with Bret Baier

In a tense 27-minute interview on Special Report, Vice President Kamala Harris dodged a question from Fox News’ Bret Baier regarding the Biden-Harris administration’s decision to ease sanctions on Iran, allowing the regime to access billions of dollars. Baier pointed out that the US government estimates Iran has earned nearly $200 billion from oil revenues since the administration stopped enforcing sanctions.

Harris sidestepped the question, instead shifting the focus to former President Donald Trump’s withdrawal from the Iran nuclear deal. While it’s true that Trump pulled out of the agreement, Harris failed to acknowledge that the deal had also provided Iran with significant sanctions relief and a pathway to becoming a nuclear power.

Baier’s question was rooted in concern over the administration’s handling of Iran, which Harris had previously identified as America’s greatest enemy. However, Harris chose to pivot to a familiar campaign talking point, criticizing Trump’s response to injuries sustained by American personnel in an Iranian missile attack on a base in Iraq. She omitted the context that the attack occurred after Trump’s elimination of Iranian General Qasem Soleimani, an operation Harris and then-candidate Joe Biden had opposed, predicting it would lead to war.

As Baier attempted to steer the conversation back on track, Harris spoke over him, bringing up the “suckers and losers” controversy. Ultimately, she did not provide an explanation for the administration’s decision to grant Iran access to funds for missiles and terror activities.
