Professional activist Greta Thunberg recently participated in a rally in Malmo, Sweden, with thousands of other protesters expressing their dissatisfaction with Israel’s inclusion in the Eurovision Song Contest. Despite their protests, Israel’s entry Eden Golan still performed and secured a spot in the final through viewer votes. The demonstrators waved Palestinian flags and chanted for a free Palestine during the march. Although the protests did not affect Golan’s performance, she successfully advanced to the final round of the competition. Israel’s participation in Eurovision has a long history, with the country winning the contest four times since its debut in 1973. Fans can now look forward to watching Israel compete against 26 other nations in the final, where Golan is listed as one of the favorites to win.
