Google Photos Update Brings AI-Powered Video Presets and Enhanced Editing Tools

0:00

Google has rolled out a significant update to the video editor in Google Photos, introducing a range of new features and enhancements for both Android and iOS users.

A key addition is the introduction of AI-powered video presets, which allow users to automatically trim, adjust lighting, change speed, and apply effects to their videos with just a few taps. These presets also offer advanced features such as motion tracking, automatic zoom, and slow-motion capabilities. Users can access the new presets tab located beneath the video timeline.

This update builds on Google’s existing AI-powered features in Google Photos, including the Gemini-powered chatbot introduced last May, which enabled more detailed and conversational photo searches for US users.

Android users will also benefit from several platform-specific updates, including an improved trim tool with more precise controls, an “auto enhance” feature that can automatically improve video colors and stabilization, and a new “speed” tool that allows users to adjust the pace of their videos. The new features are set to start rolling out to users today.
