Gas prices continued their upward trend this week, marking the third consecutive day of increases. According to AAA, the average cost for a gallon of regular gas reached $3.544 on Thursday, a slight increase from the previous day’s price of $3.538.
Over the past four days, prices have surged by nearly four cents per gallon, bringing the average price to its current level. Meanwhile, Mississippi remained the state with the lowest average gas price, with a cost of $3.009 per gallon, surpassing the $3 mark for the second consecutive day.
California, on the other hand, took the top spot for the most expensive gas prices, with a gallon of regular gas costing $4.778. Gas prices varied significantly across states, with prices ranging from low to high.
In the Washington, D.C. area, gas prices showed slight variations. In the nation’s capital, the average price for a gallon of regular gas decreased slightly to $3.709, down from $3.712 the previous day. A week ago, the price was $3.699 per gallon, while a month ago it cost $3.678.
In Virginia, the average price for a gallon of regular-grade gas rose to $3.477, up from yesterday’s average price of $3.467. A week ago, the price was $3.382 per gallon, while a month ago it was $3.333.
In Delaware, the average price for a gallon of regular gas increased to $3.553, up from $3.514 the previous day. A week ago, the price was $3.46 per gallon, while a month ago it was $3.424.
Finally, in Maryland, the average price for a gallon of regular gas rose to $3.631, up from $3.618 the previous day. A week ago, the price was $3.577 per gallon, while a month ago it was $3.526, and last year at this time it cost $3.574 per gallon.
