French Foreign Minister Stéphane Séjourné visited Lebanon to help ease tensions on the Lebanon-Israel border. Séjourné met with various Lebanese officials and the UN peacekeeping forces in south Lebanon. The ongoing conflict between Hezbollah and Israeli forces has resulted in casualties on both sides. France presented a proposal for a diplomatic resolution to the border conflict, calling for Hezbollah to withdraw its forces from the border. Hezbollah has expressed willingness to consider the proposals, but insists on a cease-fire in Gaza first. Diplomatic efforts continue to find a peaceful solution to the conflict.
