On “CNN News Central” Wednesday, Harris-Walz campaign communications director Michael Tyler evaded host John Berman’s questions about Vice President Kamala Harris’s shift in stance on fracking.
Berman asked Tyler to explain why Harris had changed her position on fracking in Pennsylvania, but Tyler sidestepped the question. Instead, he highlighted Harris’s commitment to American energy production and her administration’s record on the economy. Tyler emphasized that Harris is a “fighter” who prioritizes the interests of the American people and seeks solutions that improve their quality of life.
Tyler drew a contrast between Harris’s approach and that of Donald Trump, whom he accused of promoting an economic agenda that benefits only the wealthy and large corporations. He claimed that Trump’s “Project 2025” agenda offers nothing for American workers or consumers.
Berman pressed Tyler for a more direct answer on fracking, asking if there was a specific event or development during the Biden presidency that had led to Harris’s change of heart. Tyler again dodged the question, reiterating Harris’s pride in the administration’s record on energy production and the economy.
Tyler emphasized Harris’s focus on job creation, lowering costs for Americans, and finding solutions to pressing issues. He portrayed Trump, on the other hand, as a candidate who is driven by a “dangerous and extreme ideological agenda.” Berman indicated that the issue of fracking would likely come up again in the future.
