Senator John Fetterman (D-PA) stated Wednesday on CNN’s “Inside Politics” that he does not consider himself a progressive, addressing criticisms about his liberal credentials.
Fetterman remarked, “In Pennsylvania, border security is a crucial issue, and we all agree on the necessity of a secure border. I never thought it was unreasonable for any Democrat to aim for greater border security.”
He continued, “I’ve always been clear about this. I’m not a progressive; I’ve consistently identified as a regular Democrat. This isn’t new information. Around eight years ago, I did consider myself a progressive, but times have changed, and I’ve clearly stated that I didn’t abandon that label—it left me.”
Fetterman added, “I believe it’s far more crucial to focus on Donald Trump rather than on purity tests and similar issues.”
