Former military member, Gene Scott, is facing jury selection for the alleged murder of his grandparents in Chester County. Scott, 24, is accused of shooting and killing Gene Rogers, 61, and Billie Rogers, 78, in 2020. He was serving in the U.S. Army at the time and was apprehended while stationed in Germany. The bodies of the victims were discovered in Richburg on Father’s Day. Scott was indicted by a Grand Jury on charges of murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime. Investigators believe that Scott joined the Army to evade capture after the killings, but he was eventually located in Germany. Scott had previously left the Marine Corps in January 2020 and was allegedly responsible for the deaths of his grandfather and great-grandmother in June of that year. Authorities did not know about Scott’s military status until later on and were able to arrest him in October 2021 once enough evidence had been gathered.
