Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, is reportedly planning to funnel $45 million per month into a super PAC dedicated to reelecting former President Donald Trump. The organization, dubbed America PAC, is also backed by notable figures including Palantir co-founder Joe Lonsdale, the Winklevoss twins, coal mogul Joe Craft, and his wife, former U.S. Ambassador to Canada Kelly Craft.
The Wall Street Journal reported that America PAC was formed in June and aims to galvanize the Republican base, with a focus on encouraging voters to register, request mail-in ballots, and vote early.
Musk’s endorsement of Trump came soon after the attempted assassination of the former president at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. He took to his platform, X, where he wrote, “I fully endorse President Trump and hope for his rapid recovery.” Accompanying the message was a video of Trump pumping his fist, which garnered over 2.3 million likes within a few hours.
Musk continued to express his support for Trump on X, while also criticizing the security failure at the rally. He noted that “last time America had a candidate this tough was Theodore Roosevelt,” referencing the former president’s decision to continue giving his speech despite being shot.
Following Trump’s announcement of Sen. J.D. Vance (R-OH) as his running mate, Musk praised the choice, saying he was an “excellent” selection.
This development may significantly bolster Trump’s fundraising efforts, particularly given that the richest man in the world has now entered the political arena.
