Transgender star Elliot Page, formerly known as actress Ellen Page, is providing the narration for a new documentary called Second Nature exploring gay and transgender animals. This documentary marks the second nature-themed LGBT project to be released within the past year.
The documentary features a lineup of scientists who are exclusively “female, BIPOC, queer, and immigrant,” according to its official website. Notably, it includes Dr. Joan Roughgarden, a transgender ecologist and evolutionary biologist.

Elliot Page’s production company is among the producers, alongside Megan Ellison’s Annapurna and the Sundance Institute.
Recently, NBCUniversal’s Peacock launched a documentary series titled Queer Planet, which explores similar topics, focusing on gay and transgender behaviors in the animal kingdom.
Queer Planet is set to premiere on June 6 on Peacock, aligning with Pride Month.
