Former White House press secretary Jen Psaki appeared on CBS’s “The Late Show” and suggested that President Joe Biden should have stopped supplying weapons to Israel sooner.
In a recent interview on CNN, Biden stated that he would not provide offensive weapons for Israel to use in attacking Rafah.
Psaki noted that there is leverage being used in the situation and that cutting off weapon supplies earlier would have been beneficial. She also mentioned the significance of the US-Israel military support relationship and the recent decision to scale back weapon shipments.
When asked if the US has withheld weapons in the past, Psaki acknowledged that it has happened before, although not many times. She also highlighted the complex relationship between President Biden and Prime Minister Netanyahu, emphasizing the importance of diplomacy and behind-the-scenes conversations.
Psaki emphasized the importance of outreach, connections, and listening to young people in diplomacy. She mentioned President Biden’s upcoming commencement address at Morehouse University as a positive step in reaching out to communities, and suggested that more of such engagements may be necessary in the future.
