Former President Donald Trump will be attending a Republican fundraiser in Minnesota on Friday night amidst his hush money trial. He will headline the state GOP’s annual Lincoln Reagan dinner, coinciding with the party’s state convention. This event follows his son Barron’s high school graduation in Florida earlier that day. Trump sees Minnesota as a state he can win in the upcoming November election, despite its Democratic leanings.

Trump believes his campaign efforts in Minnesota can lead to a victory against President Joe Biden in the rematch. Although no Republican presidential candidate has won Minnesota since Richard Nixon in 1972, Trump came close in 2016. Despite Biden’s comfortable win in the state in 2020, Trump remains optimistic about his chances.

The fundraiser, co-hosted by David Hann and House Majority Whip Tom Emmer, offers tickets ranging from $500 to $100,000 for a VIP table with multiple photo opportunities with Trump. The event is expected to draw around 1,400 attendees, with all proceeds from ticket sales going to the state party.

While experts are divided on Minnesota’s competitiveness in the upcoming election, given its Democratic stronghold, Hann believes there is dissatisfaction with President Biden in the state. Trump plans to focus his speech on economic issues during the event, expressing confidence in his chances to win Minnesota with the support of his allies and industry efforts in the state.
