A forthcoming true crime series on Hulu, “Betrayal: A Father’s Secret,” is set to expose the shocking events that unfolded after Jason Lytton, a Utah man, was arrested and later convicted of child sex abuse. In 2022, Lytton was sentenced to nearly a year in jail and two years of probation after a plea deal was reached on 100 counts of child sex exploitation.
As part of the plea deal, Lytton was banned from accessing the internet. According to KTVX, Hulu’s new series will delve into the case, which began when Lytton’s wife, Ashley, discovered a hidden folder on a device containing thousands of sexually explicit images of underage girls.
Ashley Lytton, still reeling from the discovery, speaks candidly about the experience in the series’ trailer. “We live in a very beautiful place, but sometimes the beauty masks what really is going on,” she says, struggling to discuss the moment she found the pornography. “I don’t think I can say it, I’m sorry. I just need a break.”
Ashley Lytton’s life was forever changed after finding the evidence of her husband’s crimes. “My life will never be the same,” she says. “Jason would kill me before he would let me tell anyone this part of him.” Despite her shock and distress, Ashley felt compelled to take action and protect her children. “The light inside of me shifted into a flame, and I was like, ‘It’s f***ing on,'” she recalls.
In the trailer, Ashley Lytton also shares her daughter’s reaction to learning about her father’s crimes. “My stomach just dropped,” her daughter says. “I remember just being like, ‘What the hell?’ That was my dad. It did not feel real. It felt so shocking.”
