Former Los Angeles Lakers point guard Darius Morris has passed away at the age of 33, as confirmed by his family. TMZ Sports reported that Morris was found in L.A. on Thursday, but no further details about his death have been disclosed.

Morris had a brief NBA career, getting drafted by the Lakers in 2011 and playing with the team for two seasons. His family has requested privacy during this difficult time.

The Lakers expressed their sadness over the loss, and former Michigan head coach John Beilein also paid tribute to Morris, recognizing his contributions to the program during his time at the University of Michigan.

Following his time with the Lakers, Morris played for several other NBA teams and also had stints in China, Russia, and France. He eventually retired in 2020.

Morris faced legal issues in 2020 when he was arrested for domestic violence and was later sued for sexual assault in 2021. Despite these challenges, Morris left a mark on the basketball community and will be remembered for his time on and off the court.
