Columbia University Initiates Suspensions for Anti-Israel Demonstrators

0:00

Columbia University has reportedly begun the process of suspending students involved in an anti-Israel encampment on campus. Vice President of Public Affairs Ben Chang stated that students were given a 2:00 p.m. deadline to vacate the encampment before facing suspension. Chang explained that suspended students would no longer be able to finish the semester or graduate.

Earlier in the day, Columbia University distributed a letter to the protesters informing them of the deadline to leave the encampment, citing the disruption it caused for the community and students preparing for exams and graduation. The letter was defaced with red ink, displaying threatening messages.

Similar encampments have popped up at other universities like Yale, George Washington, Princeton, Harvard, MIT, and UCLA in the past week and a half. The rise in anti-Semitic incidents in the US following Hamas’s attack on Israel in October 2023 has raised concerns.

Breitbart News attempted to reach out to Columbia University for a statement but had not received a response at the time of publication.
