Chuck Schumer Booed at NYC Israeli Parade

Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) faced loud boos from a crowd while speaking at an Israeli parade in New York City on Sunday.

Hamas, designated as a terrorist organization by the U.S., attacked Israel on October 7, 2023, resulting in the death of 1,200 people and the capture of over 250 hostages. While some have been released, around 130 hostages are still being held by Hamas.

“Bring them home. Bring them home. Bring them home,” Schumer repeated as the crowd responded with boos.

Schumer, who is Jewish, has faced criticism for his silence on anti-Israel protests and encampments at college and university campuses in April and early May.

In early May, pro-Israeli protesters labeled Schumer a “traitor” and called for his resignation after he expressed “faith” in President Joe Biden’s intention to withhold artillery and weapons from Israel if they proceeded with an invasion of Rafah, Hamas’s final stronghold.

In March, Schumer urged Israel to hold new elections to replace Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, stating he had “lost his way.”

Nevertheless, Schumer, along with House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA), Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY), and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) signed a letter inviting Netanyahu to speak before a “joint meeting of Congress.”
