California Teacher Admits to Sexual Relations with Middle School Student

A former middle school teacher in California has pleaded no contest to sexual abuse charges after being arrested for having sex with a 14-year-old boy in a locked classroom. Michelle Christine Solis, 46, was the victim’s teacher at Sycamore Junior High School in Gridley when she connected with him on Instagram in 2021. In the weeks leading up to the boy’s graduation, Solis began messaging him and sent explicit photos of herself. She then engaged in sexual intercourse with him on the day of his eighth grade graduation. Gridley Police started investigating after explicit photos and rumors circulated in October 2023, leading to the discovery of communication between Solis and the boy on his phone. Solis was arrested in November and bailed out on a $15,000 bond. As part of her plea, Solis agreed to register as a sex offender and could face up to four years in state prison. Her sentencing is scheduled for June 6.
