Authorities in Osage County, Oklahoma have made a significant discovery in a 20-year-old word puzzle created by infamous serial killer Dennis Rader, also known as the BTK killer. The puzzle contains the name of a missing Oklahoma teen, Cynthia ‘Cindy’ Dawn Kinney, who vanished in 1976. Rader, who used the moniker BTK for “bind, torture, and kill,” was apprehended in 2005 after a long spree of killings from 1974 to 1991. He is currently serving multiple life sentences for his crimes.
Sheriff Eddie Virden of Osage County has revisited the case of Kinney’s disappearance, prompted by a documentary about the BTK killer. The puzzle contains clues that link Rader to Kinney’s case, including references to locations connected to the victims. Moreover, a package received by the Sheriff’s Office contained the puzzle and revealed additional clues, such as BTK’s travel history to Oklahoma.
The puzzle also lists BTK’s ten known victims and his home address, providing further insight into the killer’s activities. Sheriff Virden remains committed to solving Kinney’s case and believes they are close to uncovering the truth. The Sheriff’s Office has formed a National BTK Task Force to assist in investigating the cold case and plans to explore various locations linked to BTK’s victims.
